Bose Unveils New Premium Earbuds to Compete With Apple’s AirPod Pros

It took a while, but it looks like there is finally a competitor to the AirPod Pros. This fall, Bose will release the QuietComfort Earbuds, noise-cancelling, wireless in-ear headphones that will likely appeal to anyone who thinks Apple’s premium offering—and those weird stems—still look a little ridiculous.

Days after a promotional video for the product leaked online, Bose confirmed that it will release a wireless version of its QuietComfort20 earbuds at the end of September. Those buds will also be joined by a re-engineered version of the company’s wireless Sport Earbuds as well.

The QuietComfort, or QC earbuds, are a renamed version of the Noise Cancelling 700 Earbuds, that were originally supposed to launch last year. The set features a brand-new Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) chip and 11 ambient sound levels to keep unwanted noise out. They are also equipped with a set of exterior microphones that allow the earbuds

Get ready for a retina blowout: Holiday decorations this year are expected to be bigger than ever. (Super Freak for The Times )

Since coronavirus commandeered our world, we’ve been nesting like crazy, nurturing our sourdough starter, claiming corners of our homes for work or school, and planting victory gardens to feed our stomachs and souls.

So now that summer is yielding to fall, what is the next big obsession of our homebound existence?

Holiday decorations, baby.

Get ready for a retina blowout.

If early shopping trends are any indication, 2020 is the year we go bonkers on decorating our yards and homes, because we really can’t do much else. Many traditional holiday events and venues are closed due to coronavirus, long-distance travel is dicey, and a visit to grandma’s Thanksgiving table will likely require a two-week family quarantine to make sure we don’t pass more than the turkey and

You had me at ‘ice bong for vapes’

The Arc GT is a fun little dry herb vaporizer from Zeus, a relative newcomer to the scene. It’s a quality vape on its own merits but the star of the show here is an accessory called the Iceborn (sold separately) that turns this little pocket-sized oven into an ice bong.

An ice bong for vapes. Ain’t technology grand?

[Read: Are EVs too expensive? Here are 5 common myths, debunked]

But before we get to the potatoes, let’s talk about the meat. The Arc GT costs $229.99 putting it squarely at the mid-high end of the market where it bumps up against the likes of the Davinci IQ and the Pax 3.

In the looks department, I would normally pan the fact that it only comes in black because I think the tech world is saturated in melancholy darkness. But in this case, the more understated my pocket

Eileen Wood’s Opulent ‘Dead to Me’ Mansion Is One of Beverly Hills’ Oldest Houses

“Dead to Me” sure gives good real estate! Though set seaside in Orange County’s Laguna Beach, the sophomore series is shot entirely in Los Angeles and showcases the city beautifully. From the picturesque Cape Cod Jen Harding (Christina Applegate) calls home to the modern pad occupied by Steve Wood (James Marsden), each locale featured is prettier than the last. The real star of the latest season, which hit Netflix in May, is the palatial estate belonging to Eileen Wood (Frances Conroy), the mother of Steve and (spoiler if you haven’t yet watched!) his twin brother, Ben (also played by Marsden).

I, of course, got to Googling in the hopes of tracking the place down and quickly came across an article about the set design of Season 2 on the industry website Below the Line. In it, “Dead to Me” set decorator Brandi Kalish states that Eileen’s mansion is “maybe the

‘Generous’ Va. Teen Builds Free Desks for Kids in Need and Says Giving Is a ‘Golden Moment’

Teen Builds Free Desks for Kids in Need with ‘Desks for Distance’

Colby is helping kids in need with ‘Desks for Distance’

After building himself a desk for distance learning, Northern Virginia teen Colby Samide spent the last week of summer vacation building 40 free desks for underprivileged kids.

“It’s sad knowing there are kids that can’t afford them,” Colby, a 17-year-old from Purcellville, tells PEOPLE.

When the pandemic shut down schools last spring, many parents felt blindsided and unprepared for distance learning, says Katharine Hill, a learning specialist and parent educator based in Brooklyn.

“They didn’t feel very successful,”  says Hill, 42. “Stores weren’t open. People hesitated to buy something for a situation we all hoped would be very temporary.”

But as parents attempt a better online learning experience this fall by setting up home classrooms, stores have been selling out of desks.

“It’s a concrete thing parents can

Italy virus cases increase with more travelers

MILAN — The number of people found positive for coronavirus continued to rise for the sixth straight week in Italy, mostly driven by people returning from holidays as Italy increases its testing capacity.

Another 1,616 people tested positive in the last 24 hours, according to Health Ministry statistics released Friday, as Italy carried out 99,000 more nasal tests.

Authorities have emphasized that many of the new cases do not represent people who are suffering symptoms but who have been identified by contact tracing. At the same time, the average age of those testing positive is on the rise, with nearly one-third over 50.

The focus on tracing new cases comes as Italy prepares to open schools on Monday for the first time since last winter, and as Italy considers reducing quarantine for anyone who had contact with someone testing positive from 14 days to 10 days.

Italy has totaled 284,796
