As we wear and carry more and more wireless devices, making sure all of them are consistently charged can become an annoying chore, since some can hold a charge much longer than others. Having multiple USB ports can help somewhat, but since different devices need varying chargers, finding and untangling wires every time can be tedious and make your workspace look disheveled and messy.
That’s where a wireless charging station can come in to solve your charging problems. These all-in-one units are designed specifically as Apple device chargers — they can not only charge up everything at once, but also provide a clean and uncluttered look, while still allowing you to use and monitor your screened devices as they refuel.
It may seem obvious, but the more wireless power a station can push through, the faster a device can charge. The first generation of wireless power was about 5W, the second gen increased up to 18W, and Apple’s MagSafe charging pushes it up to 20W.
Qi (pronounced “chee”) technology is what allows devices to be charged wirelessly using inductive charging, which is used in everything from mobile devices to electric cars. It’s super convenient for phones especially, and satisfying to just drop a device on the wireless charging pad and know it’s juicing up. It’s become pretty standard across all smartphones, tablets and various devices (160 at last count), and is a safe bet for what the future of charging is going to look like.
For Apple watches on most of these units, it’ll still wirelessly charge, but you’ll need to thread the specific cable for it through the desired holes and around the back to reach its resting spot unless it’s already built-in. Another accessory that can make charging even speedier is a QC (Quick Charge) adapter to plug into a wall outlet. Not all charging stations come with one, but it can make a noticeable difference when you’re in a hurry to reach 100%.
With AirPods, charging is a bit different than the others, since there are two factors: both the pods themselves, as well as the case. Be aware that these charge at different speeds, and can usually be monitored on the screen of the device it’s paired to.
Whether you want a wireless charging station on your desk or at your bedside, it’s an easy way to keep all your daily mobile tech organized and refueling while you work, scroll, or sleep.
1. Mophie 3-in-1 Wireless Charge Pad
Mophie’s wireless charging station is a favorite of ours, not just for its sleek looks and efficient performance, but product reliability and overall feel.
The design here is perfectly simple and streamlined, and it comes with everything you need to get started – even the Apple Watch charger. While most charging stations require you to supply your own, and loop it through the inside of the base, Mophie’s got you covered wirelessly here.
The unit itself charges at a nice pace: one hour can boost an Apple Watch up to 60%, an iPhone 11 Pro about 45%, and AirPods nearly full (the case takes a little longer). Charge these all up overnight and you’ll definitely be at 100% by morning.
2. WAITIEE Wireless Charger
This 3-in-1 charging dock can handle your phone, Apple Watch, and AirPods all at once, and reach a full charge in under three hours.
It conveniently displays your devices at an angle, allowing you to still use your screens while they recharge. The unit never gets too uncomfortably hot, thanks to the heat dissipation holes.
Different lights indicate the stages of charge, and can be checked simply by touching the base too, making it ideal for bedsides and creating a soft glow for your room.
Though the watch spot is specifically for an Apple Watch, it’s compatible with any phone that has wireless charging technology built-in, and a few different wireless earbuds too.
3. Seneo Wireless Charging Station
Seneo’s fast-charging pad can handle your iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods simultaneously, and can even take on an additional smartphone in the AirPods spot.
Unlike many other charging pads, this one isn’t too finicky about placing your phone at just the right angle to activate charging. Just set it on top and it starts up on its own. The slim design won’t take up much space and looks great on desktops, kitchen counters and bedside tables too.
4. QI-EU 4 in 1 Qi-Certified Wireless Charger
This 7.5W all-in-one unit can handle your iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, and even an Apple Pencil.
There are a couple different angled options for charging the phone here, which may seem like a minor afterthought, but this little plastic stand can be a big convenience. You’ll have the option of charging your phone upright either horizontally or vertically — perfect for a workstation — or you can charge it flat, which is way easier when you just want to toss it on there while you’re multi-tasking around the house.
This Apple charging dock is Qi-certified for wireless charging, even through a phone case, and cooling holes in the back allow for giving off some of the heat generated, while guarding against overcharging when multiple gadgets are all on there at once.
It’s pretty versatile with phones (even with the case on, just remove any magnets or metal first), but not all watches will work here. This also requires a QC3.0 adapter to plug into a wall socket, which unfortunately isn’t included.
