The Festival of Lights Outdoor Holiday Market was a big success last weekend in Downtown Smithville. Many thanks to everyone who participated! Our businesses had great days with lots of shoppers stocking up for the holidays. We also hosted the virtual “lighting” of the gazebo with Mayor Scott Saunders and his family. Let it Glow holiday decoration contest: Register online to participate in our contest. We’ll be giving out cash prizes to the winners of the decoration contest in five categories: Best theme, best business, best street or neighborhood, best residence best religious. Twelve Days of Christmas Holiday Gift Card Giveaway:  the chamber is hosting a 12 Days of Christmas Gift Card Giveaway beginning Dec. 7 and lasting through Dec. 22.  Head to our Facebook page @SmithvilleAreaChamberOfCommerce and answer a question about Smithville. Each day, the amount of the gift card will increase $5 with the final day totaling $60.  Many thanks to sponsor Kragh’s Jewelers and Ladd’s Gold Exchange.

The chamber is hosting a Shop Small Y’all gift card drawing every Friday through Dec. 20 at noon on our chamber Facebook page. Be sure to turn in your receipts showing at least $10 in purchases at a local Smithville business to be entered in the drawing.  

Sip & Shop: Join us for a fun Sip & Shop at different stops throughout Downtown Smithville on Dec. 12 from 2-5 p.m. Tickets are $25 at www.smithvilletx.org.  Multiple stops throughout Downtown in this fun walking tour. Wines will be available for tasting in your free stemless glass. Groups are limited to four and groups will start at different locations. Some hosts will have delicious food specials available for purchase as well as exclusive discounts on merchandise. Get your tickets as we are limiting the number sold. Come out and Sip & Shop in Smithville! 

We were excited to host the groundbreaking for the Smithville Visitor Center/Chamber, Railroad Museum on Monday. If you’d like to purchase a paver for the front entrance, contact us at 512-237-2313. 

The Smithville coat drive is collecting new, unworn coats to distribute to families in need. Both adult and child sizes needed. We will be collecting through Dec. 14 and distributing at the Smithville Food Pantry on Dec. 16. Sponsored by Hodges Construction Services and the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce. The Smithville Chamber of Commerce held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for its new building near the gazebo that will house the chamber, visitor center and railroad museum.
