During the Animal Crossing: New Horizons crossover with Super Mario Bros., players can dress up as the villainous Wario. Here’s how to get the outfit.

Super Mario Bros. celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, and the series’ most iconic characters are making an appearance on Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands starting March 1. While players probably immediately think of Italian plumbing brothers Mario and Luigi when they think of Super Mario Bros., chances are, they also remember many of the other characters, including and especially the villains. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can even assume the likeness of one of the more well-liked villains in the series, Wario.

Along with other Super-Mario-Bros.-themed furniture and decorations available for purchase, Nintendo has added four new Clothing Sets in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Princess Peach. Each costume has three to four separate items that will be available for purchase as long as players have downloaded Update Version 1.8 that released on February 25. Players can purchase these costumes using bells. There are four items in the Wario Clothing set: Wario’s outfit, Wario’s hat, Wario’s shoes, and Wario’s ‘stache. Unlike other clothing items, players can’t necessarily find these items in the clothing store and instead will need to head to Resident Services. Here’s how to get the Wario Clothing set and dress like one of the most iconic villains in gaming in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Buy Wario’s Look from Nook Shopping in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

To get the items in the Wario’s Clothing set in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will need to make sure they have a stable Internet connection and download Free Update 1.8. They will receive a free Super Mario Wallpaper item for doing so. Then, they can launch the game and head to the Nook Stop kiosk in Resident Services or use the Nook Shopping app on their NookPhone.

While most clothing items are usually found at the Able Sisters’ shop, the Super Mario costumes are considered promotional items. All the new Super Mario Bros. Crossover items will appear under the Promotions tab in Nook Shopping.

The Wario Clothing set in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can be purchased as four individual pieces:

  • Wario Outfit: 2,400 Bells
  • Wario Hat: 1,500 Bells
  • Wario Shoes: 1,400 Bells
  • Wario ‘Stache: 1,200 Bells

The clothing only comes in one style, the yellow shirt, yellow hat, pink overalls, and green shoes Wario is most commonly seen wearing. The zig-zag moustache item also comes with a nose modifier to complete the look.

The items from the Super Mario Crossover still count toward the player’s 5-order-per-day limit, so players will not be able to purchase everything right away. They can, however, get the whole Wario Clothing set at the same time as long as they have enough bells, along with a new decoration of choice. Based on the update trailer that was released during Nintendo Direct, players can load the costume into a wand just like any other outfit. That way, they can always be prepared to compete against Mario and Luigi.

The Super Mario Bros. Crossover for Animal Crossing: New Horizons items should be available until December 31, 2021, giving players plenty of time to collect all the furniture items and Clothing sets they want. Most of the furniture is decorative, but each piece comes with a unique animation effect that will trigger if a player touches the object. There have been 18 items confirmed so far, including various Blocks, power-ups, and flooring and wallpaper options.
