MARQUETTE, MI – Jayne T. Compton, age 82, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, June 27, 2021, at UP Health System – Marquette.

Born October 16, 1938, in Munising, a daughter of Lloyd “Quig”ù and Donna (Schilling) Cook, Jayne was raised in Munising and graduated from Munising High School, Class of 1956. She was employed in various local jobs, but most of all loved being around family and friends. Following her marriage to Delbert Compton, Jayne settled into her wonderful life as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an amazing cook and always made sure there was more than enough food and good conversation to go around.

She possessed a fun and happy nature and loved to make people feel good. Jayne was known for her holiday decorations and her fashionable and stylish sense. Spending time at camp, going on trips, and taking shopping excursions were all passions she greatly enjoyed. As time went on and grandkids were added to the family tree, life for Jayne became even sweeter. The grandkids became her life and she loved following their activities. Jayne kept the party going in her later years as a member of the Marquette Red Hat Society.

Jayne is survived by her husband of 58 years, Del; her daughters, Chris Miller and Tracey (Rick Sanville) Compton both of Marquette; four grandchildren, Kelsey Miller of Alpena, Taylor Miller, Lexi Miller, and Riley Sanville all of Marquette; her brother, Clay (Lynn Bowerman) Cook; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Cook; her niece and nephews, Christopher Cook, Diedra Cook, and Anthony Cook.

Jayne was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Mark Miller.
