MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The pandemic may have cancelled the official running of the 2020 Manhattan Beach 10K Race but race organizers have found a new way to raise funds and get people moving. This year, simply register and run or walk the race in a 10-day period, beginning October 1 and ending October 10. Indeed, as race officials are calling it, it is indeed the “Run Your Own Race” version.
Course details are forthcoming but many things are already in place for the race: The 2020 race shirt is “throwback nouveau,” say race officials, combining the design of 1982 with an updated logo for 2020. Shirts from the race have been a highly prized possession since the first running of the race in 1978.
Registration for the Special Edition “Run Your Own Race” begins on Tuesday, September 1. Registration will only be available online this year. The cost of the Special Edition Manhattan Beach 10K “Run Your Own Race” is $25 per person. All who register will “receive a high-quality cotton blend t-shirt with our nouveau retro design and one-of-a-kind race logo,” according to the registration page online.
T-shirts are available in short-sleeve or long-sleeve unisex sizes, and there is a short sleeve youth size. Also, for the first time ever, race T-shirts will be included in your pre-race pick-up. T-shirt exchanges will not be available this year, so make your selection carefully, advise race officials.
