Old Time Pottery Partners with Pets for the Elderly, Local Pet Shelters and Local Senior Facilities to Bring Holiday Cheer and Supplies

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (PRWEB) November 18, 2020

Old Time Pottery, the tree-mendous holiday superstore, is donating Big-Hearted Bins from all 39 stores across the Midwest and Southeast to support seniors and pets throughout the holiday season. Old Time Pottery has partnered with Pets for the Elderly and over 40 senior living facilities to help make a difference in the lives of seniors and shelter animals.

Each Old Time Pottery store will be filling the Big-Hearted Bins with essential supplies and Christmas décor items, which will be donated to local senior living facilities. Big-Hearted Bins filled with pet supplies will be donated to Pets for the Elderly’s partner shelters and other local animal shelters. Customers are also able to purchase items at a discount to fill their own Big-Hearted Bins, which will be sent to participating senior centers and animal shelters. In addition, customers can make donations online directly to Pets for the Elderly.

“The holidays are time to bring to joy to as many people as possible,” said Jason Schmitt, Chief Executive Officer of Old Time Pottery. “Our Big-Hearted Bins have brought happiness to so many seniors who have been isolated throughout the pandemic. We’re excited to work with Pets for the Elderly to add companionship to the delight our donations can provide seniors.”

Susan Kurowski, Executive Director for the Pets for the Elderly Foundation added, “The most serious health risk for older persons is not cancer or heart disease – it’s loneliness. Old Time Pottery is bringing seniors connection to their community and helping us provide them with companionship and the unconditional love only a pet can provide.”

Pets for the Elderly provides companionship to senior individuals through pet ownership, while saving the lives of companion animals in shelters. With 52 shelters in 34 states participating in the program, Pets for the Elderly has helped successfully place nearly 100,000 companion animals with senior adopters.

Big-Hearted Bins originally launched as part of a broader campaign to assist communities during the pandemic. In April, Old Time Pottery delivered Big-Hearted Bins with home essentials to residents in over forty senior living facilities across the Midwest and Southeast. In turn, senior center residents used the greeting cards in each bin to create personalized well-wishes notes for recovering COVID-19 patients in hospitals.
