Not to be outdone by Oreo’s “Chromatica” cookie collab with Lady Gaga, Reese’s has offered up a new candy to cure any snack-related fatigue.
On March 1, Reese’s announced its new Ultimate Peanut Butter Lovers Cups. The name may have tipped you off, but in case you’re still unsure: These peanut butter cups are all peanut butter, no chocolate. The candy brand already upped its peanut butter game in 2019 and 2020 with limited releases of Reese’s Peanut Butter Lovers Cups, which contained even more peanut butter than the originals, but this new launch escalates the chocolate-versus-peanut war to the next level. (Though, if you’re a fan of RPBL cups, those are making a 2021 comeback as well.)
“Secret’s out…Reese’s Peanut Butter Lovers has gone ULTIMATE,” the official Reese’s account tweeted.
Basically, instead of the solid chocolate coating surrounding the famous Reese’s soft peanut butter filler, these cups feature a peanut-butter-flavored candy exterior. Online responses can mostly be summed up with one word: GIMME.
“I recently became allergic to all chocolate, so hearing this make me so happy,” one user tweeted, while another was thrilled they no longer have to remove the pesky chocolate shell. “OH MY GOD!!!! This is the greatest news,” they tweeted. “I typically peel off the chocolate & only eat the PB center…Thank you.” That does sound like a lot of work when one can simply buy Reese’s brand peanut butter, but that’s neither here nor there. Ultimate Peanut Butter Lovers Cups are coming!
“While launching a Reese’s Cup with absolutely no chocolate might come as a shock, we’re giving the truest peanut butter fans something to go wild about,” Reese’s brand manager Margo McIlvaine said in a statement, per CNN.
As for when you can pick up these treats, Reese’s has revealed that the candies will be hitting shelves in April and will be available in various sizes. They will be around for only a limited time, so get them while they’re hot! Well, not so hot that they melt…you know what we mean.
