New photos from the set of She-Hulk reveal the first look at Tatiana Maslany as the Marvel Studios/Disney+ show’s protagonist, Jennifer Walters.
A brand new image reveals the first look at Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk. Marvel Studios continues to build its small-screen portfolio through Disney+. After wrapping up WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, there’s a slew of other TV projects from the MCU coming to the streaming platform — and some of them are introducing new key players in the universe.
Announced in 2019 at the D23 Expo alongside a string of other shows, details about She-Hulk were initially very scarce. Casting and other information didn’t come until several months later, which made sense considering how the coronavirus pandemic threw a wrench in Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 and beyond plans. Eventually, though, it was announced Tatiana Maslany is playing the project’s titular part, while Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner/Hulk in the MCU, will also make an appearance. Now, filming appears to be going on smoothly with a new image from the set of the series making its way online.
Shared on Instagram by Atlanta Filming, the snap is of Maslany seemingly shooting exterior scenes for She-Hulk. The Orphan Black actress is notably sporting a face shield for health safety purposes, which means the cameras aren’t rolling just yet. Check out the image below:
In the image, Maslany can be seen wearing a bright yellow UCLA sweatshirt, which indicates it might be for a flashback scene as Jennifer Walters receives her law degree from the university. Otherwise, it’s possible that Marvel Studios is telling She-Hulk’s story in a linear manner, beginning as a period piece and chronicling her life thus far, with the show progressing to her current situation. As the cousin of Bruce Banner, expect their relationship to be established from when they were younger as well, although it’s uncertain just how much the MCU is going to pull from their collective backstory from the comics. In print, Jennifer becomes her superhero alter-ego by receiving Bruce’s gamma-radiated blood in a transfusion after she is shot by a mobster.
Production for She-Hulk is expected to last several more months, which means potentially more leaked images and videos will end up online, giving viewers a sense of what to expect from the project — especially since Marvel Studios is notoriously known for being secretive with their endeavors. No word yet when the series will debut on Disney+, but at this point, there’s a couple of other MCU shows lined up to debut on the streaming platform, including Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye, which has just wrapped up principal photography. Meanwhile, Loki is scheduled to drop in June.
